The Monastery Vodita was built at 500 meters from the Danube, in the municipality Varcovia, between 1370-1372. The founder of the monastery was the monk Nicodemus Greek Serbian origin who came to the Romanian Country in 1359 and after building this place raised Tismana Monastery . The ruins of old monastery Vodita can be seen today near the wooden church built in 1995.
